Wiring in keyless entry

Hi, I am after a few pointers on this matter.  My GTI was poverty spec from new and I have just fitted vag central locking to it from another mk2.. which all works ok.
 But I have bought a remote kit for it from ebay (I know, I know  )

Anyway, The actuator I have got seems duff so I am to buy a new one tomorrow. The old one was 5 wire and the replacement will be 2 wire.

Now the instructions that came with the kit aren't great in any sense, neither is the fact that all the wire are black.. instead they are numbered?!
  My question is, I have 6 wires for the central locking coming from the 'brain' and only two on the actuator.. where are they going? the instructions say they should go to a relay:





I read somewhere that there is a relay setup for C/L behind the centre console, am I needing this or could the control unit just utilize the two wire actuator on its own?

If someone could shed some light on this, that would be great!

Mine had bout 6 wires for drivers door and the rest had 2.
Had to use a relay for boot pop

You will need a 5 wire actuator so that it can send the open and close signal to the pump but also to manually open the drivers door. I recently upgraded to a rclick system but haven't installed it yet, the eBay one blew fuses about once an hour.

Does that not happen at the vacuum switch though? When the actuator pushes up/down it also pushes the switch which unlocks /locks the other doors?

If only using a 2 wire actuator you would need it to control the drivers lock mechanism while also moving the vacuum pump which is very awkward to fit. When you use a 5 wire actuator it functions as both a switch and a lock actuator. Get a refund on your 5 wire and get a new one. Chop out the vacuum pump which is three wires. Fit the 5 wire actuator in the pumps place. Connect the 3 pump wires to actuator, move it by hand to make sure it's wired correctly, when moved it should trigger the central locking in the boot. The remaining 2 wires on the actuator will connect to the remote control unit and will control the pushing and pulling of the door lock allowing the previously unpowered drivers door to also be unlocked via remote control.

Kind of yea. The vacuum switch is already fitted and working(locking all the doors from the key)  The main thing i don't get is there are 6 wires coming from the unit saying they go to a relay(or two)? As in the diagram above.  So if i did use the 2 wire jobby how would i connect it?!

I originally bought a two wire actuator but never managed to get it to work. The vacuum in the door is basically a manual switch that can be in either a locked or unlocked position and is moved manually by the key turn. The switch has 3 wires, a constant live and two negative wires. The position of the switch either locked or unlocked determines which negative wire receives power. A 5 wire actuator has this feature as well so the position of the actuator determines what action the boot pump gives. However as standard the car does not have any system in place to lock or unlock the drivers door (if you manually unlock the passenger door only that door will unlock). The last two wires on the actuator will receive power from the remote control to push or pull. When a push signal is sent the actuator will manually lock the drivers door however because of the switch inside it will also send a signal to lock the rest of the doors, this works vise versa.

Currently on my set up the remote control unit keeps blowing fuses but because I have a 5 wire actuator I can still control all the locks by turning the drivers lock with a key. Later this week if the weather is good in the evenings I can take some photos and explain it when I fit my system if you like?

Ok dude, that could be helpful.  So if i did use a 5 wire actuator, which 2 of the 6 wires in the first diagram would i connect to the actuator? And would i need to connect the remaining 4 to anything? Cheers

You would use the middle right diagram to wire up the motor.
