It was scanned for fault codes a few weeks ago but the guy didn't go into details about it to be honest, just said it was a problem with the cat. Maybe he said that because he could clearly see that cat was a state, I don't know tbh. My friend who I just bumped into said he's got time to take on the work and he has all the diag computers to check it out. I just want to get moving in the right direction. I've had the car a couple of months now and have sorted the TC by changing the MAF but still have these (and a couple of other) issues I want to get sorted asap. Sorry if I seem a bit impatient but things like this irritate me and I want it sorted. Seeing as I'm definitely going to go decat I may as well get that ordered and then I can book an appointment to get the car looked at and he can scan the codes and see where we go from there

Cheers for your help (and patience), I appreciate it.

Have a look and see what the code is first and write it down, then you can pinpoint the exact cause. The cat can fail which will flag up the post cat lambda and the EML light. Like Dom said if the pre cat lambda has gone this will throw more fuel in and long term can knacker the cat and the post cat lambda!

The stud is easy to replace once it's out and like you say the downpipe will be off at some point anyway

I'm going to get a custom turbo back exhaust soon but I'll get the codes scanned before hand to see what it's saying. With any luck it's nothing too bad and the new exhaust will sort it all out. Thanks for the advice
