Navigation updates for November

I'm still wondering how VW will make the updates stop after 3 years?

I read that it is time limit built into the nav itself. I dont know if this is true but would make sense as the maps themselves are freely available from vw's website.

Can someone remind me how many updates come out a year and how many we can have?

2 updates a year for 3 years so 6 total.

That'll need to be removed then by someone clever

reading a similar thread on scn it seems that their units dont have the ability to update with a subscription or code purchase first so I wouldnt be surprised if its on a timer or something

So basically, if you keep the car more than 3 years, you can't update the maps anymore...
