tyres quick question
« on: 05 November 2013, 21:42 »
My golf gti 16v currently has 205/50/16 tyres on now can I replace them with 215/40/16 ive checked autodata that seems the correct size and a lower profile tyre would it help lowering as there would be more clearance.

205/45/16 or 215/40/16 are the OE sizes and give you more clearance than what you have which are too big anyway.

The rim is apparently off a toyota celica and has those stupid jap metal valves. I take it I can just fit those tyres and they would be fine and fit no problem on that rim

You can also use 195/45/16 but I would check the offset if they are non veg.

Also check wheel clearance against the front calipers - the GTi ones have a habit of fouling.

They look a bit like my BBS RX - replicas maybe?
Whip one off and check for any size & ET stampings on the inner face of the wheel.
