Preparing for Winter - heated seats?

Over the last couple of mornings its become apparent that Winter is well on its way!

Yesterday, I went to work in my wifes JCW Mini.  I left the house with the heated seats on full (3), and within about 3 minutes I had to turn them down as they were roasting.  Today I took my golf.  I drove a full 20 min journey with the seats on full (3), and it wasn't until the last 5 minutes of my journey I actually started feeling them.

Is there a way of changing the heat output for the 1, 2 and 3 settings?  I have VagCom access if its just a case of re-programming something.  I remember my ED30 being much quicker to heat up - but I always thought that was due to cloth seats v's leather... but the Mini has leather seats too.

Another Winter related question.  Can anyone recommend something to clean the inside of my windscreen with that will prevent it fogging up?  This morning I started the car and immediately put the blower on full and the windscreen.  I scraped the ice off the outside of my wifes car and then mine... and by this time had a tiny clear gap in my foggy window. It must take a good 8mins with the fan blowing full blast to clear the window enough to drive 'legally'!
Are there any recommended anti fog products out there?

Mine get warm after around 5 mins. The occasionally time they dont get warm straight away. So i turn them off and back on and they seem to get hot pretty fast. Weird.

I agree the mk6 seats definately take much longer to heat up.  I've had heated leather in both and there is a noticeable difference, the mk5 seats used to get absolutely roasting within a few minutes.  These ones take ages.

Mine take around 5 mins or so (maybe a little longer).

To be honest, these are the worst heated seats (for warm up time) that I have had in any of my cars. My BMW seemed immediate compared to the Golf.

I've just bought an Audi TT so it will be interesting to see what they are like - I imagine the same as the Golf

I have to admit, I have cloth seats and the heated seats are fantastic I turn them down after two minutes on level 3.  Does it depend on trouser thickness? The hire car Astra J I had recently on leather was pants in comparison to the Golf.

Mine take ages as well to warm up.

Funny but I had the same conversation with my mate today, he gave me a lift home in his 1-Series and they were almost instant compared to the 5 plus minutes it takes in my car.

OK... so it seems most of us agree that the MK6 Golf has slow heating seats!!
Is there anything that can be done about it?  And don't say wear thinner trousers!!

Anyone got any suggestions on anti-fog windscreens?!

Mine aren't slow...and you can't sit on them long with the seats on '3'.
But mine has cloth seats...so maybe the leather robs some of the heat?

The Mk5 seats go hotter though...but I don't notice any difference in warm up time.

Looking at most of the signatures they all seem to have leather. The cloth maybe naturally warmer, leather is always freezing.
