Thanks wigit.

A few people have mentioned each dealer will get only 2 R's next year, can this be right?
I would'nt believe this too much, Volkswagen always artificially control the supply to build up they marketing & hype.
They will build as many as possible

They either control the supply or build as many as possible - they can't do both.

They will restrict how many they put out, at least for the first few years. I wouldn't expect each dealership to get more than 5 per year, 2 could be right. People on forums like this are the hardcore fans. Not many people will be queueing up to pay £30k + options for a Golf. I'd expect that for every 6 or 8 GTIs on the road, there will be on one R. Considering GTI/GTD retail allocations are supposed to be one per month per dealership right now, 2 Rs per year fits in with that.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

I went to my dealer on Thursday to enquire about an R . He told me they were allocated 3 per year. One of which they had sold the other was the demo. Why order a demo if your only getting 3 in total?
Still seemed very keen to try and get a price near the brokers quote though. He went off to talk to the manager , then business manager etc etc. Then I had the sales spiel about why I should buy from them. I politely told him straight if you can get close I'll order. If you can give me a good part ex for my Scirocco even better. If not Broker it is and I'll sell the Roc privately.
I've used brokers for my last 2 cars with no problems.
So , I'm waiting for a call back this morning after he talks to someone else who was not in until today . We'll see!

If the R gets rave reviews in the press like the M135i did, I would expect there to be a long waiting list.

Considering there is a 5 month waiting list on GTI's and given the increased residual of the R, low interest rates for PCP there isn't a big difference in monthly payments.

Has anyone had a solutions finance quote on an R yet to ascertain GFV and get a gauge on residuals for the R, improved or not? GTI GFV currently running at 50.5% and GTD running at 55.8% - any improvements on those figs?

Based on 49 months, 8k per year - 5dr DSG comes to £13,680

Bensgti: I would guess that equates to around £16k at 36 months and 10k miles per year. That's similar to a GTD percentages.

Which in IMHO is low considering the trade price of a 3 year old Compared to the GTI.
