Anyone know what are the residuals looking like over 36 and 48 months please?

Someone who got a finance quote should be able to tell you what their GFV is. Add a grand onto GFV and you shouldn't be far wrong. The Scirocco R had a slightly poorer GFV (percentage wise) than the 2.0TSI GT, but it's only 2WD, so isn't as versatile as the Golf R. Depending on how few of these are made, i'd expect to see a GFV of 50-55%. With few of them around you're more likely to be able to strike a good private sale when you change than you would for a GTI/GTD.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

Yep Agree with monkey,

I would expect the GFV to be about £16-17k after 36 and £14-15k after 48 months

Mines gone in for some work this week and i had every intention of getting some food for thought from my dealer but he was out with a customer  ::)  i'm definatley going to ask though!

The only options i'd bother with are Metallic blue paint and pro nav, i'm really struggling with my GTI tbh, i love the look of it but the DSG is ruining the experience in the day to day traffic, i've got a 1.6 diesel se as a courtesy car and the gearbox is lovely and i actually prefer it (the box not the car).

I know i'll lose a small fortune on it but if it's gonna make me miserable then it's worth it imo, ah well, you live and learn.....

The manual box is so, so smooth.

I know where you are coming from Jimble, I had to get rid of my mk5 just because I hated the leather.

The R will be a rare beast.

Let's hypothesise you went for the R, Jimble. Would you get a manual? DSG seems the best way to get the most of a car with acceleration (<6sec) like the R.

I went for a manual GTI precisely because I wanted to avoid the ill-experiences that you've unfortunately had, but I'd be getting the DSG if I was in the market for an R.

i'd agree, if I was getting a Golf R I wouldn't consider a manual.

Slightly off the 'R' topic but I love the DSG in my GTI. So so smooth and phenomenal in heavy traffic (which is where I spend lot of my time). Btw I test drove the manual GTI and it was an incredible box. Very, very smooth and sweet shifting. A joy.

@Jimble what are you not liking with DSG?

Back on the R topic - why do most folk think its essential to have DSG on the R?

It's not an auto.
I love the DSG in my current Mk 6 R and there is no way I'd ever go back to a pudding stirrer.

On the subject, however, of the new R, I've got one on order (albeit with some finer details to be confirmed) but is the UK "advanced" phone option the same as the "premium" option needed for Car-Net?
