Calling golf owners for advice .
« on: 26 October 2013, 19:48 »
Hi guys I am new to this site but am looking for some advice and figured this was the best place to come .
I am looking to buy a car and have decided on a 2006 golf gti , the car I am going to see is in mint condition inside and out but my only slight concern is that it has 97 k on the clock .  Is this a lot for this engine or should it be ok for a good while .  I have agreed a price of £4500 which seems ok to me .  It has fsh .
Also what common faults should I look for on inspection ?
Any help really appreciated  guys and I may be a regular member on here soon .

Use the search and aim at the MK5 section as its been covered loads...lots of similar threads saying what to look for.  Coilpacks were recalled, air con compressors known to fail, rusty front wings which can be replaced under VW 10yr warranty, camblet should have been done, DSG gearbox serviced twice by now and due another.  Condensation in the rear lights, and rear highview brake light (just under spoiler) and an airbox warning light that comes on due to drivers seat being moved back and forth to let people in the rear on the 3 doors (airbag warning lights now constitute an MOT failure.) to name but a few....
