To tracker or not to tracker?
« on: 25 October 2013, 01:02 »
Well my long long long wait appears to be nearing an end. I should be picking my car up over the weekend and as the title says I'm undecided as to whether I should fit a tracker to my pride and joy.

A little history, at the end of March I had my house broken into and my car was stolen with the keys that were in the house. It's taken fully 7 months to get my car replaced, 2 of which were down to Allianz and 5 due to VW.

On one hand I wouldn't want to go through this wait again but as someone on here said before would you want the car back after someone has taken it?

So do I or don't I?

I would ask myself whether having the tracker will reduce your insurance premium significantly.

I personally would like to see a tracking device that locks the car with the thief inside and then ignites it. One less car thief and you'll get a new car. I definitely wouldn't want my car back after someone stole it unless I could be assured that it was in the same condition as it was when it was stolen, like they'd literally just turned out of your street and got stopped by the Police.

How secure is your house? We got new doors front and back last year, but if they want to break a window then it's only the likelihood of getting heard that stops them.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

After the break in I upped the security but as always the windows are the weak link. Also I don't leave any keys downstairs now.

At present I'm not convinced that I'd make a vast saving on the insurance after the cost of installation and monitoring. But then I wouldn't want the aggravation I've had this time round.

I'm still undecided   :undecided:
