Removing and changing sunroof easy or not?????????

My mk3 has a very bodged sunroof with lots of silicone on it looks very unattractive and doesn't quite do the job are these easy to change. I have had the headliner out before but this was before realizing the sunroofs condition , is it possible to change the rubber on the sunroof by my self or some sort of company just looking up my options if any one can help.

the hardest part is getting the headlining out in one piece and not breaking it after that its only a couple of pipes and a few bolts

i have had the headlining out once before so should be a doddle now just need new sunroof

Be prepared to lift the new sunroof in with your head whilst lining it up and fitting a few bolts with your hands

yeh the car that i removed a sunroof from was siting on its side in scrappy which made it a lot easier

Yeh I need to make trip to scrappy before really bad weather starts.

It's a piece of piss with 2 people. Again I've done this 3 times as well. The one that came with the car was seized. The 2nd one had a broken piece somewhere in it so would only move so far. The third one, which is lovely by the way. Works well.

They are very heavy, so enjoy

the sealant is around the glass panel.im guessing ?.If so then i would be looking at drainage tubes on each corner or rust causing a leek but that would probably stain the headlining.

My guess is that the drainage tubes or some of them are blocked causing the water to stay in the reservoir and come over the edge into the passenger area when car is moving.

The seal does'nt do a great job,it's basically there to reduce water and dirt coming in but mainly to stop noise.It helps to keep panel snug and stops vibration.
