Brakes
« on: 20 October 2013, 20:16 »
Hi all on my 1.8t the guy who had it before had 312mm (I think) brake discs on the front and red stuff calipers.just standards on the back.
The discs will need replacing soon.
Im not great with stuff like this can anyone give me advice on a replacement pair?
I don't want to spend TOO much but don't want to go cheap. Have heard about drilled/grooved etc but that doesn't mean a lot to me
I wouldn't mind having the same size all round either if I have the money...

Can anyone give me advice on what to get and where???
1.8T 20v Stage 1 generic Jabbasport

Replace them with the same size as they are currently or you'll have to change the carriers as well.

Don't bother with drilled and drooved discs, they'll just wear your pads faster and are unneeded on a MK4 golf.

I'd just go for an OEM brand like Pagid.

As Dom says don't bother with these eBay special grooved and drilled disks, my mate went through more sets than he cared to count because of warping, cracking etc etc. proper grooved disks as seen on big brake kits are different they are made differently. If money is tight to for a quality OEM replacement disks with quality pads like ds2500 or just upgrade to r32 brakes or lcr brakes
