mk7 GTI/GTD 5 cars back-to-back
« on: 20 October 2013, 19:10 »
Hey mk7 crew, just added this feature to the old site:

Thought you might enjoy a few photos and me waffling on about options

This was the same event I had such an enlightening conversation at:

Hi jv. Thanks for that brill report, very much enjoyed reading. One question you've kind of answered, but not quite is: standard v performance pack... Sounds like you didn't feel too much difference, but you'd still go for it.
I'm hovering over whether to add PP to my order (if I still can, it's still 'With the factory'). Got to say I do love the GTi red callipers, but will it really give the car £980 worth more fun? I would defo go for it if I intended to take it on track days. But on the road, is it worth it? And will it help the resale value 4 years down the line? What's your views?

Thanks for the feedback, was good fun, especially as you could just do whatever you liked, pick any cars, go anywhere essentially.

I think you could buy a non-PP car and be very happy with your choice. The standard car with no options at all would make you grin for sure! Want a bit more power sometime later? Get a nice remap. As soon as you go beyond that though, the PP is very good value. A set of bigger brakes isn't going to come in at much off that for new parts itself. The differential - aftermarket Wavetrac or similar? Big money again. So if I was planning on keeping the car for a while and probably starting to modify it, I would certainly pick the Performance Pack.

Oh Grief, I must be mad: I just emailed the dealer to ask if it's still possible to add PP to the order at 'With Factory' stage WITHOUT affecting the BW. Having read all the stuff on this forum, all you guys have got to me.

You made the right choice..... you can bask knowing that you have GTi logo's on your brake callipers
