Hi folks really sorry to be drownding you in posts just really helpful replies have got me this far!
So the engine and gearbox are back in all pipes plugs leads hoses brackets are on! When I fired it up the flat cable that comes from the coil got really hot so firstly I'm looking at where I could give it a better earth.
The engine thankfully did fire up good but unfortunately the engine has now a slight tapping and the revs will idle at 1000 but with 20-30seconds will gradually rise to 2000-3000 which makes the tapping slightly louder.
So a breakdown of what I've done. Removed e + Gb, then marked everything with White marker, removed gearbox to replace clutch but when I fully removed clutch I found it was virtually brand new so just put back together an bolted back up! Then I replaced the cambelt after replacing damaged crankshaft again after fully marking everything. All the marks I made lined up good! So now I'm confuse to whats causing the tapping and high idle!
My first reaction was to now remove all covers of cambelt an properly re-aline the timing marks then fit belt again, but after 10 minutes looking on forums and the Internet I have now 1 millions remedies of what could be causing this from a faulty crank sensor (which I don't no what or where that is) to the cambelt, tappits, flywheel, leads, cap!
So, anyone know where to start and what is the common to check!? Just to let you know the engine has no coolant or water in what so ever as the radiator is still off invade I need to get back into the engine for the cambelt! So I've only been running for 2 minute intervals then cooling for 1hr! Some people have said that the auto choke is kicking in causing the high idle?
Thanks in advance
