GTI Handbook
« on: 17 October 2013, 20:21 »
Hi All.
When I ordered, I didn't check that the handbook was a good old fashioned paper job.
Can anyone confirm that this is the case.
Regards.

Well Jimble, PDF manuals are not unknown in many areas of consumer products and some car manufactures are even experimenting with i-phone based apps instead of paper manuals

I actually think VW missed a trick here. With the large infotainment screens in the MK 7, I think they should have had the manual electronically loaded into the infotainment screen. BMW have been doing this for some time, and it would always be available on demand.

Is it still branded GTI or GTD? My MK6 one was leather with a red stripe and badging.

Hi Norbreck21a,

I see that you have Nav Pro. Does that extra size screen have a marked effect over the standard Nav, and does it justify an extra £1000!

Hello GrahamS.
Sorry to butt in to the chat but yes it is a much better proposition than the standard.
Mostly because of the access to the cars functions i.e. the sound system and car set up.
It's more an interface to the car than a nav system so changing things and switching between functions on the fly is that much easier.

I don't think i'd want it in any other format tbh, i think it would annoy me if it was actually part of the infotainment system as you'd constantly be going backwards and forwards trying different things and reading the manual.  :undecided:

I wouldn't mind a pdf download but would still like a book in the car.

PDF on my iPad would work for me.

Hi  Black oil.
You have me confused.
As far as I am aware, all of the functions you describe are also available on the Discover Nav.
As far as I can see, the Pro version adds a few bells and whistles e.g voice control etc and , of course, the larger screen.
