1.8 T rim dilemma please help!!
« on: 16 October 2013, 15:51 »
Hi guys new to forum, and need a little help! So here my little dilemma I recently bought a 1.8T gti 4 door as a winter run about, well I've only had it a week and I've already been buying bits, a r32 style spoiler and a few bits that were missing and I've decided she needs a new set of wheels  so I want to go for some bbs RS stlye alloys I love the polished with the gold studs look, but here the thing I did originally want to go for 16 inch rims and put it on coilovers, but the mrs won't let me lower the car... So do you think a standard set of 17 inch RS's will look good with some low profiles or even 18's or will they look to big? So can't find any pictures of a mk 4 with rs's that hasn't been lowered I just don't want to fork out the dough and left with it looking like a half hearted attempt. Thanks guys looking forward to your thoughts!!

Not to sound like a nob bud but it wont look right if it isnt lowered why does your mrs not want you to lower your car?

I ran coilovers for 6 months without my girlfriend realising, I slowly wound them down so she didn't notice

I fitted air and told her about it after

Anyway, 18's on a standard height mk4 will look daft.

To be honest lads think I will go for some coilovers on 17's I'm not a fan of 18's and she wants to be able to use to go shopping and such and worries about the speed bumps

18s and a 40-50mm drop won't be an issue with any speed bumps or kurbs.

17s can look a bit small dependent on style where 18s are spot on.

18"s and a 40mm drop will be fine.
