Drivers side front spring snapped possibly?
« on: 14 October 2013, 09:06 »
The other day I was reversing in a car park full locking and heard a bang, this only happens when I give a large amount of steering so me and my dad had a look and think that the front drivers spring has snapped but can't really see it to confirm.

How much will this likely cost at a garage do you think? As I need it to drive to work! Trains are

2hrs labour, and about £30-50 for the spring.

Factor in £150, and any change is a bonus.

Woah, thanks for the reply. Will both front springs need doing or is the one fine?

In all honesty I would do them both, but its your decision and budget.

I'd also replace springs in pairs. It'll be easy enough to see if they spring has snapped if you jack it up and take the wheel off, I'd do that to confirm that's the problem before booking it into a garage.

Got a garage to have a look near where I work and they said it does appear to be the coil spring so I've just dropped it off this morning! Not cheap though...

How much are they quoting?

Last one I did was £80 on their doorstep!

Where all my moneys went.

Golf MK3 1.6. Golf MK3 8v GTI.

£120 with gen spring. Had to go with them as it was close by to work so I can leave it with them all day and get it just before they shut later on today. I work 25 miles from home, didn't want to get the train
