So who gave up and cancelled?
« on: 12 October 2013, 13:18 »
Obviously I did after ordering on April 14th and still not going into build by last week of September, but did anyone else tell VW to shove it? I'm aware of one or two on here, but a show of hands?

Myself obviously.  Couple of other chaps went over to BMW and I think one to Audi.  At least one guy went for a used mk6.  That's actually not many people though.  5 or 6 compared to around 30 cars delivered to proud new owners and hopefully many more on the way soon.

Of course this is the very reason VW have little incentive to improve though!

Telling VW to shove it will only allow them to sell your car to someone who is prepared to pay more money to jump the queue. It'll be you loosing out, not them.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

You're saying VW are just too big for for consumer pressure to drive better deals? I think you'll struggle to find someone who has cancelled who agrees they've lost out but it seems pointless to argue about it...

Bill, they will be loosing out by no longer getting to have the car they were passionate enough about to order in the first place.

Barry, there will always be people who will pay more than they need to for anything.

These are quite special cars, in high demand as new GTIs usually are.

Many people want one now and are not prepared to wait, I was offered the full price I paid for mine when it had 4k on the clock and was 3 months old....
Mk7 GTI. DBP, DCC, Winter pack. Mine since new, July 2013.
GTI no. 4. Golf no. 5.  VW no. 7.

I did think about accepting the offer - for about 5 seconds.
