Removing inlet manifold on AGG
« on: 11 October 2013, 08:50 »
I am looking to cure an annoying rattle from the engine bay which is coming from a heat shield/deflector bolted to the exhaust manifold. Being a counterflow 8 valve I’m going to need to take off the inlet manifold to get access.  Can I remove the manifold without removing the fuel rail/injectors? Any other tips? Just want to make the whole deal as painless as possible, with minimal opportunity to cock things up!

For info, this is the offending heat shield (item 7) I need access to! I think it's to protect the throttle position sensor wiring, but I hear trhey can crack around the mounting points, and it's making an awful racket!

Cnut of a job!!! Other thing id say is to drop the engine at the front so you got space to access the nuts on the back.

Just remove front engine mount  and support with a jack?
