Gti range

I filled my mk6 Gti and the range said 290 miles.
Does this sound about right?
It did go up a bit (to 330 ish) during the first few motorway miles though.
They do seem to use a bit of juice,especially if you drive it erm,a bit enthusiastically or is it just me?

Depends on type of driving you do but sounds normal to me.   Mine is usually somewhere between 290 and 320 and that's with lots of town driving.  My average long term is only 29 mpg.

Im not complaining-I am just wondering if this seems similar to other owners.

It all depends on how you drive and if you sit in traffic alot imo.
My average from brim to brim over 4 years is 34. I only getting 8-10 mpg better in my TDI on the same routes.

mine gives upwards of 370 with a full tank and i spend half my driving in traffic.  Which i find certainly not as economical as my wife's Polo for example but at the same time not the petrol-thirsty monster that some seem to think it is.  Mind you though, 370 at full tank can quickly go up in smoke given the right conditions

I do lots of short journeys around town and typically get 28mpg, which has dropped on the last tank to 26mpg (colder weather maybe?) - range at fill up showing around 300.

On a longish motorway run 40mpg without trying.

I get the feeling i'm being too nice with the car.  I only do approx. 22mpg ...

On my daily commute i get 36-38 everyday (based on 12months of driving, mixed conditions all kinds of roads), when i get out to play this drops to 24-26, still usually 360-370 on a tank, but thats always using ultimate/v-power+ fuel

When you fill up, the range will be calculated based on the average mpg for the last few miles, and will assume that you will continue driving like that. Trundle along a dual carriageway at 40mph for 20 miles, then fill up and could could well see a potential range of 600+ miles. Drive it like you stole it, then fill up and the range could be as low as 100 miles, but drive economically after than and the range to empty figure will increase.

I think that the feature is pretty pointless until you have below 1/4 of a tank of fuel and are miles from the next fuel station.
