Wheel fitment question ...

Hey guys,

Jst needed a bit of help with fitting a set of wheels, I have a 90' 3 door mk2 golf 16v.

It currently has a set of average looking 16" wheels on it, not sure on the make to be fair or the width or ET etc, they do seem to rub the inside of the chassis when full locking.

That suspension is standard, and I think they have dropped over time too,but I got coilovers in the pipe line.

Question is, I've invested in some decent 16x7 4x100 alloys Et20. How easy will it be to fit these... And what will I need... I'm sure the vw golf is et35-42 or something.. So does it mean I'll require spacers? Or is it the opposite..

Am I looking at rolling the arches

What would give it the best stance..

I'm a bit out of touch with all this and any help appreciated... I tried searching but I can't seem to get a straight answer.

Tyre size is important as it gives the full diameter.

Et20 wont fit, will scrub like a b!tch. And rolling arches is only advisable as a last resort, and your arches need to be 100% rot free. Spacers would decrease the offset, so 5mm spacer would make them et15. And you cant really mill any off the wheel bolt face

id suggest looking fir a set of 15's rather than 16's as a starting point

Et20 will need major work to the arches, et30 would be a better bet.
