You won't get 21 BHP but you should get at least 7bhp and a smoother power curve  which or the money isn't bad value really.

Yeh i was thinking that worse case i lose out on £46 instead of £250 i can live with losing £46.

Just called a place call RedDot in enfield London who map cars my campy has used them alot for our Alfa Romeo's they have informed me the ABF ECU cannot really be mapped he said i'll be lucky to get 5bhp after paying £250 as the ECU'S go a bit crazy when mapped.

Is this true????

Please listen to what people are telling you. The guy off eBay who myself and others have used is all you need for a chip. End of the day it is a 16v not a turbo. It is not going to set your world on fire without spending thousands and thousands.

This is what i have found seems to good to be true but if it is a plug and play chip and not a resistor like most companies on eBay and with you lot saying he does good chips i think i will go with this option.

Resistor?
Eh?
On a petrol car?
They don't work that way...

He's talking crap.
ABFs can be re-mapped very easily with a change of EPROM.

The 5BHP bit is probably accurate though...you'll be lucky to get much more on a standard ABF...maybe a bit more on a ported ABF.

Digifant 3.2 ECUs are perfectly happy with re-mapped EPROMS...what they don't like, is running with big duration/overlap cams where the pulsing in the plenum causes them problems...so cams on a standard ECU are a risky proposition - you need to be VERY careful which cam choice you go for...or they won't run.

Mapping IS an option.
You need to find the right person and have the need for it.
You don't have the need frankly...a mildly ported head and TB aren't going to add much anyway, so an ebay chip will be fine.

If you were running high compression, big cams or odd cam combinations, need very specific rev limits or have a seriously modified head, then a custom map will give more gains - but you need to find someone who can map with an emulator, then burn a EPROM to custom parameters.
I know, because I have had that exact work done...so know it can be done.

The bottom line is, youe engine doesn't need or warrant it...so throw in an ebay EPROM and live with the 5BHP or so gain.
