Mk3 Golf Gti Powerchip What do you think
« on: 09 October 2013, 14:04 »
Mk3 golf GTI power chip i just called up a company called power-chip http://www.powerchips.com/ and they said £140 they could fit a chip with an increase of 5 - 8 bhp is this reasonable power for money or just a waste of money.

It will smooth the power delivery but will not add much power.

Is that a custom mapped chip or an off the shelf jobbie mate?

A few of us on here run one from this guy on our 16v's ... http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/pepeoi/ and they cost a mere fraction of what you've been quoted. I'm sure i paid about £30 or so for mine on a best offer?

I'm going to get him to sort me out for the mk3 TDI wagon i've just picked up, apparently on those you can squeeze up to 35bhp from chipping alone!

I'd have thought a 5-8 BHP gain is reasonable for the mods you have.

Reducing my Golf count by the week....
..but gaining motorcycles.

He didn't asked about mods i had to be honest the guy on the phone didn't evan seem interested, the conversation lasted only a few minutes  with no real info just it needs to be soldiered in and its £240 fitted have to drive about an hour to them not £140 sorry typo.

The chip is just for  a standard golf as he mention nothing about what i had done to car exhaust air filter ect.....

My friend has a escort rs200 and he payed £130 and said it was excellent i was hoping some one had dealt with something like this before to get some real info.
