Unidentified floating object

Hi you lot, the bug has bitten again and I've bought another mk2.. number 7 now :)   It was bought as a non-runner and has been stood a while.  Anyway this object below was floating around in the footwell, It looks to me like part of an alarm system or immobiliser... any ideas?   She is a 16v  btw.
