I Powerflexed the rear beam and front wishbone bushes. Didn't do top mounts as I like my teeth. With a decent 800 quid at the time FK coilover kit it handled really well. On super super rough surfaces the car would skitter a tiny bit more than rubber but the handling well made up for it.

Where all my moneys went.

Change the rear wishbone arm bush to TT/R32 ones. better than powerlfex.

Better how?

Been OEM  rubber I'm guessing they have slightly more compliance?

the r32/tt bush is still rubber so still has a bit of flex but the bushes are more solid than mk3 bushes so they tighten it up without going too hard

So does more compliance make it better?
Or do people fit poly bushes to tighten things up?

I've never found fully poly bushed lower arms to be harsh...and besides, half the people complaining are running £200 coilovers with the car dumped in the weeds. Erm...kettle calling pan?

but with the r32 bushes you get an in-between of std flexi bushes and stiffer poly bushes. Which is what I want

I have a pair to fit to mine when I re-do the suspension (I'm also going for a quality susp kit if funds allow!) and hopefully my car will handle loads better but also retain good comfort levels? (I hope as r32 bushes are more expensive than powerflex!)

iirc the std type bush is a tight fit on the OD and is pinched on the metal insert that runs through the middle giving a torsional load, where the aftermarket types tend to be more of a bush, almost free floating.
This is why mine creaked as they were turning when the rear arm moved...
Lots of makes so this may be different by the brand.

One thing to remember is that injection moulded PU bushes set really badly and fatigue quite quickly due to the material properties required for volume moulding and ease of manufacture. For want of a better description cast bushes are best as the material is a different grade and will survive longer with a lot less setting and fatigue. They are harder to make so cost twice as much as most internet brands

yes the smaller bush of the 2 is very tight and manage to crush the wishbone now in the bin i will need to melt that bush out the larger pushed out easy with the press.
