Gonna be a whore now and attempt to promote UK-MK3's. They arrange local meets for the Mark 3. Either on Facebook or the Forum. I used to love this site but I said a while back the Mark 3 section had gone flat which is a shame as this is the biggest Golf forum about and theres a lot of people who know their stuff (and a few who dont). Was always good for a laugh and help when required but all seems to have stopped now.

I have posted a few question about my mark 3 and some with no real replies, i thought the mk3 was the common of the GTI'S and every would help and know a  lot about all the little problems they can have.
I was recommended this site but a friend but its a shame to say it is a very quiet forum for mk3's.

It might be quiet in here but it is still the best Mk3 based forum out there IMO. Edition38 Mk3 section is poop, I check VWVortex often though. I must say I haven't been on here as much as I used to, mainly because my car has been reliabale for 9+ months!

The internet itself is very quiet, as there are lots and lots of clubs with members on Facebook and the like.

Myself and JV were saying a few weeks back that the whole VW community is quiet, and the amount of show cars that are showing up without a build thread on the regular forums is immense.

Take a look at the classifieds on here, clubGTi, Edition38 etc etc.  Years ago you would be bumping threads up on a daily basis due to the internet traffic, but these days you'll be lucky to get to the bottom of a page in a week!  Where are all of these people selling?  Gumtree, eBay, Facebook, who knows, but it doesn't seem to involve the forums.

doesn't any1 arrange things on here this doesn't seem like a forum for mk3 owners sorry if i missing something but all i see it mk4 onwards.

Do any meets happen for the mk3 gti at all all i ever hear is just vw meets surely there is enough mk3 to do a local meet somewhere :)

Have a go at organising one.  I try to rally the troops for the mainstream ones, but sometimes people fail to turn up, plus we have to remember the VW community is massive, and not all allegiances are pledged to GolfGTI.

Currently the mk3 section is quieter but looking at things the whole forum is the same (the forum does have quite times throughout the year) I have joined other mk3 forums over the years but this is still way busier than those. (I could name a few that have failed to take off  :lipsrsealed:)

Facebook is different as you can do so much more than on a forum like this (and it's easier to target local area's etc, although why there's hundreds if not thousands of UK based VW boards beats me!)

(p.s my crown of "best moderator" on this forum still stands thanks to the support of the mk3 boy's  )

i have never been a fan of facebook i always like a good forum im only 24 and seems i cant keep up these days .
i could imagine meets being hard to organize with people location far and wide.
we do have a lot of VAG meets as my friend with his bora is at 1 every other week.

But not much with the mk3's

This forum has got a lot better over the years, advice and behaviour towards memebers has improved.
There were some real bunfights in the Mk2/3 sections and a lot of crap talked, also some seriously bad attitudes.
I rejoined in 06 after a spells on ED38/Vortex which even to this day are all about scene points and willy waving.

I think in general things are just quiet, money is low and folks are staying home
