Golf GTI Mk7 pulls away from Megane RS 2013
« on: 04 October 2013, 11:32 »
Stumbled across this on YouTube, some of you may have seen it already but I found it surprising and funny at the same time!

http://youtu.be/y7dYSt61xvM

I'm sure most of you know already but the facts:

Renault Megane RS - 261 BHP, 360nm Torque & 0-62 of 5.8 seconds.

Golf GTI Mk7 Performance Pack - 226 BHP, 350nm Torque & 0-62 of 6.2 seconds.

The Golf is clearly performing much better than figures are stating :D

Wouldn't read too much into a couple of goons having a race off from the lights, for all we know the guy in the Megane is a crap driver who has no idea how to get the best out of his car, while the GTI driver maybe does.

That's very true, I was just expecting the Megane to slaughter it in a straight line especially since the Megane got a head start.

I think I found the reaction of the camera man the most entertaining part. :D

"Oh my word" --- Couple of fannies

It looks like the back end of the Golf slides towards the Clio, that's when they start to get really animated.

That was a terrible 'Race'. The Megane was rolling forward before the lights went green and the Golf driver fell asleep, but it looked like a DSG launch.

Rolling start is usually better because you can eliminate bad launches from the comparison.

This one seems more credible:

Racing on a public road - what could possibly go wrong?
