It seems I can upgrade to an AM3 motherboard with 8GB of DDR3 RAM for the same price as the DDR2 RAM.

I know what I'll be doing :afro:

Need a CPU too, the DDR2 type CPU isn't compatible with DDR3. I can't quite remember all the ins and outs it's been years but worth having a quick Google.

Where all my moneys went.

Golf MK3 1.6. Golf MK3 8v GTI.

Try looking for corsair twins xtreme they are Alu with green hologram stickers or the newer ones with blue stickers, problem these days no one manufactures them so supply is short and us oldies hunt for stuff like this all the time I've got the last 4gb sticks off egay and paid more than I wanted too  :lipsrsealed:

I think I've decided on a new mobo and DDR3 RAM now mate, at least I may get some of the cash back for the current 2x2gb sticks that are in there now.

New motherboard + 2x4gb sticks of DDR3 RAM comes to £95

2x4gb sticks of DDR2 RAM is around the same price!

That's the stark reality only die hard fans of P4 and old AMD systems will pay for them.
I still have some Ram bus ram, they cost me a new computer in todays money back in late eighties  :lipsrsealed:
I've got about 8 gigs of ram, but windows seven only shows 6.5 limitations of my mobo I'm afraid!
