nearly new car suggestions

need another car for mile munching none of current cars are really right thing for what this ones going to be doing.

basicly i'm after suggestions for a  BIG FAT FAST MILE MUCHING reliable comfy cruser that's idealy 4wd and can tow

not really overly botherd about mpg as long as it has a long range / really big fuel tank.

maily going to be used for long distance trips to eastern europe and russia   if it's capable of towing it'll likely end up hauling a golf out to germany and dragging the odd horsebox to various racecourses around the UK.

the 5.0 TDI phaeton looks intresting   just unsure about that motor as never had any dealings with them

I would get a 5 series bmw. Had one before and done 6 hour drive to cornwall and jumped out like a spring chicken. it was e39 528i and did 40mpg.

So the 535 would be awesome.

that says a lot for the car,  bit unsure how the BMW is going to take the rougher  roads it's going to come across but going to have the same issue with anything,  just going to have to go for the smallest rims with the tallest tyers i can get.

last time we used a nissan pathfinder due to worry about really bad roads but they wernt truck requireing bad, but found the truck absolutly hatefull after driveing it all day. fortunatly it broke down so didn't have to drive it back

Think mine had 225/65/16 tyres and it ate speed bumps  didnt drive mine on bad roads but it did absorb humps at 50mph. I thought it was very smooth on country roads.

Mine was a se, I dont know if sports are stiffer, but I doubt you'll be getting a sport.

borrowed a 530d bimmer for the day.

can see it been a bloody good car for most people....    dealt with most things spot on,   but it did struggel turning uphill out of my drive there is a bit of a hump there that is a big problem for anythign rwd.

wouldn't  be an issue but if have a trailer on i have to turn uphill so that would be a problem. no chance of getting in field with it to drag the donkey box ether

Discovery, but only if it still has a long warranty, or an X5. I drove a 35D the other day. Very fast (for what it is) but the electric power steering with programmed in weightiness didn't inspire confidence when pushing on through the bends. A great car for munching miles in tho'.

mate has one, really nice cars, and pretty rapid too!

few of my mates just done a few thousan miles in one (euro road trip to stelvio pass, nurburgring etc etc etc. with a few cars rangeing from porsch & ferraris to vx220t) and they enjoyed it, said it was comfy for the thousands of miles, and fast enough to keep. (one of the guys has a 300+bhp 500ft/lbs A4 and he was aparently like  a child in a sweet shop when he had a drive)
