Golf agu running problems

hi all.my 1999 golf agu engine is having some running problems lately so thought I would ask on here for some thoughts on the problems.Tick over is high.Pulling off or at low speed I seem to have a jerk or miss fire,It feels like I loose all petrol or battery power.Things ive changed in the last 8 months.Bosch maf which ive taken back and had a new one replaced a week ago.Lucas cts.throttle body cleaned.Most of the pipes recplaced.
Any ideas please?

Forgot to say.When taking the maf senser plug off to run it with out a maf,the tickover still can be high.no I haven't had it scanned and I don't know any one close to me that has a code reader.

Depends where you are in s.wales maybe rhys (Rhyso) could vag-com your car as i think he still has vag-com and is from around your way
