Lifeshine / Protective Coating / Car Detailing
« on: 28 September 2013, 17:04 »
Hi All,

Basically on my passenger window it looks like rawky water marks have been sealed in with the life shine. I wondered if there's any way I could resolve this myself by removing it just on that window and then re-applying something to put the protective covering back on?

I know there is some forum members who seriously know their stuff when it comes to car detailing and have either taken their car to a professional detailer, or done it themselves, so I was really looking for some suggestions of products or detailers etc.

If its not coming off with a standard glass cleaner get some detailing clay and wipe the window down with that, should remove any marks.

Thanks for the reply.

Would that remove the lifeshine from the window too? Is there a product I can then use to put that back on?

Sorry to sound really thick on the subject but I don't really know much about detailing a car properly. Cleaning with a sponge is about as technical as I'd get

It probably would remove any coating but if the marks are within the coating you'll need to remove it to get rid of them. I dont know too much about lifeshine kit but you should have gotten a bag with the products used in it. I think they call it glass guard, have a root about in the bag and see if its there.

As said try claying the window, and then maybe a bit of CarPro Ceri which is a glass polish to get any other residue off. Really have to work it into the glass to get a perfect finish.

After that reseal the window with either a GTechniq or similar window sealant.

This kit has it all in one!

Good luck!

That's superb thank you both for the terrific info.

I will have a root through my life shine bag to see what's in there and I will get my hands on the clay and also I'm going to get one of those kits too.

The marks are going to bug me so I'll have a read into how to use these items to remove it, clean it all up nice and then put a coating back on.

Thanks again
