Will my car run as efficient if I unplug my n75 valve
« on: 27 September 2013, 19:35 »
Hello all bit of a random question really but I've got to do a 500 mile round trip this weekend and I want to keep it as money efficient as possible...... How ever I have a problem.... I get bored rather quickly when driving long distance which then Leeds to 'playing' with other 'up for it' motorists which brings my mpg down considerably :undecided:

So my question is.... if I unplug my n75 valve obviously the car will just run on actuator pressure around 12psi, this is over half less than when it's plugged in which will obviously tempt me less to put my foot down! Will the car run ok with it unplugged!?

Ie it won't affect the mixture?
Won't decrease mpg?
Cause any running problems?

Cheers

Leave it plugged in for the sake of less hassle and drive off boost, learn to feather your right foot and you'll be fine! ;)

Will run ok

But can't see you seeing any increase in mpg. Just drive sensibly.

Or have fun and pay the extra money.

it will be fine, will just flag up a fault code on VAG COM

You'll still run 7-8psi but it will feel as flat as a pancake lol

My LCR still boosts to 1.5bar with the N75 unplugged as I have a problem with the wastgate.
The turbo will be getting dropped off to BBT in the next week or so.

Will run perfectly with the n75 unplugged. I run a switch on my N75 inside the car so I can turn it on / off on the move.

Unplugged, stock actuator pressure will be 6-7psi, and on a ko3S you'll fall down to around 150bhp.
Regardless of those who say 'just don't use the throttle', it's actually quite nice to drive on actuator pressure, very smooth and NA feeling. not overly quick on a ko3S, just feels standard again, and as the power isn't there to use, you will almost certainly get better MPG.
