Rank your options
« on: 25 September 2013, 18:58 »
Particularly for those currently considering ordering and also for general interest, would be good for those of us lucky enough to have our cars to rank our various options in order of how much we rate them. Here's mine: -

1 DCC - haven't driven a non-DCC car so actually it's difficult for me to comment much other than this: in comfort mode, this is the best riding car I have ever owned. I'm 39 and have been lucky to have had my fair share of decent motors, mostly sporty to be fair, but this car does ride & handling combined, better than any of them.
2 keyless - added last minute for fear of regretting not having it and this has turned out to be one of my favourite options. It just works seamlessly and like a couple of other aspects of this car has become a 'key' option I'll be looking for on future cars
3 reversing camera - for the price probably the best £value of them all.
4 winter pack - have been suffering with my bad back last week so have already had these on and love the surface area heated, which goes down to the thighs and includes the lumbar area. Bit costly for what it is but last cold-season I used my heated seats for almost 6 months of the year, so worth it.
5 park assist - couldn't resist this at the price. Obviously gimmicky and not something I'll need to specify again but a good party trick to show your mates and should protect those gorgeous alloys when the missus is driving/parking the car
6 high beam assist - to be honest was half hoping the shambolic info around at the time that most of us were placing our orders meant that by ticking this relatively cheap option I'd actually get the much more advanced dynamic beam assist, no such luck. Fairly useless.

Although a standard feature rather than an option, I would also rank the auto distance cruise control highly. It makes for really relaxing motorwaying and I think it'll also have to be a regular feature on any future car I own.

Does the winter pack give you heated seats independent of the upholstery you go for? In other words, can you get your bum warmed whilst sitting on the Jacara cloth? I've got a slipped disc and the warm lumbar area on frosty mornings is very alluring indeed!

Yes mate, I have the standard cloth and the winter pack gives you the heated seats - first time I've had heated seats on cloth and they get up to temp really quickly party perhaps because there's much less conductable heat loss. The leather seats come with heated so winter pack is fairly pointless.

Craig, do you regret speccing DCC or is it just the least remarkable in an impressive field? Out of interest what setting do you have it in most of the time?

When you say DCC you also mean ACC? (The suspension control setting)?

I ordered it as I heard it made a good difference between comfort and sport, but it seems confusing now with the onscreen options and another button to press to make it 'more' sport or 'more' comfy. Know what I mean?

If I select comfort, but have ACC in sport, what happens?  :undecided:

It's maybe just me but I don't notice a hell of a lot difference between the settings. Sport seems to give you a more aggressive exhaust note and the steering tightens up but that's it. I wouldn't say I regret it, I just don't think I'm going to use it that often. Have set at normal for pretty much all of my journeys and occasionally put it into sport. I've hardly used the comfort setting and I've never put it into Eco or individual mode.

It's the one option I could personally live without. All the rest I love.

Hey man not sure I am following when you talk about 'more' sport/comfort.

You can't select comfort and have 'ACC' (actually called DCC in the in-car menus) in sport, as such. You can select the individual mode and select DCC to be in the sport setting whilst other elements, such as engine, steering, ADC etc can be individually set at whatever setting you select. But comfort is a word that is only used for the DCC setting, i.e. maximum ride comfort which broadly gives you the greatest suspension travel (but not in a wallowy French car sort of way!)

Yeah I am not being clear.

What are the standard options called, and what are the DCC settings called? And do they conflict?
