After having a lift yesterday in a mates 6 month old Audi A3 sportback (2.0tdi S-Line), I was noticing that pretty much everything in his centre DIS screen was being shown in full colour. Most especially, when he had the navigation on, the manoeuvre symbols in the screen were full colour (i.e. at a roundabout, the roundabout and road layout were shown in white, but the direction arrow with the exit were in a nice deep blue.)
On the Mk7 Golf, all these displays seem to be pretty much monochrome expect the door open symbol (picture of the car). I must admit, his looked more upmarket than mine, despite it just being aesthetics. I wonder why when it's highly probably that the 3.5" Colour TFT screen is probably the same part in Audi's as it is in VW's, that VW don't make full use of the colour palette in the DIS. Is this another example of distinguishing between the lowly VW brand and the high end Audi brand (I thought shared by a few but not me).
A minor point I know.
Oh, and to be honest, whilst I love the MMI and pop up screen of the Audi, the fit and finish was no better than a VW, and overall, still much prefer my VW.
