« on: 24 September 2013, 22:01 »
Right please dont hate me im a new boy ive owned ford all my life but over the past year ive owned a mk4 tdi that i reprayed white with r32 genuine kit and seat leon cobra alloys painted gloss black looked mint now im driving a mk3 gti 2.0 8v that is f**kED lol.

Right now lets get to the point i am now the owner of a mk4 gti 1.8 turbo with a print out of 241.7 BHP i know nothing about this car or engine it has a front mounted intercooler stainlless steal exhaust and what i think is a new turbo looks shiny lol but the turbo is leaking because there is white smoke coming out the bonnet and exhaust. ive just brought this 2 hours ago and havent looked over it in the light but for £800 thought is was a steal.

be nice as i know nothing lol

to be honest fella white smoke does not sound good at all but if it is buggered you could break it and make more than you paid easy :)

Try and pin point wher the smoke is coming from under the bonnet. Can be manifold / exhaust related..have you had a look for any oil mixing in the coolant tank or mayo unde the oil cap?

A RR printout that came with the car means nothing. It could have had the parts to make the power stripped off already. Put up some pics of the parts in the engine bay and we can tell you what it's got. White smoke is usually water being burnt off so could be a few things

White smoke is water so could be a head gasket issue.

White smoke or steam?
My cupra R had me worried when I 1st got it as there is always a fair amount of steam from the exhaust on cooler mornings,

I think the point that Wazzzer was trying to make is that a RR print out means nothing if you have just bought the car as you don't know which mods are still on the car. If you've added them yourself and then had it on a RR it's a different ball game.

what if the print out was done same day you bought the car  the op did say the turbo looked new an still has a front mount an stuff so if they wanted to strip the good bits out the front mount an stuff would be gone too
