They will fit, they will lower it and they will kinda work. You get what you pay for with coilovers but I'm an advocate for both ends of the spectrum. Ran similar on my Astra van because... well, it was an extra van but on my MK2 16v went all out on a set of SPAX RSX, well worth it IMO but would never put a pair on an astra.

I run JOM coilovers which don't get much love round here but they were a cheap way to adjust the height of my car when ever i like. I don't think there is a miracle suspension set up for cheap and I believe you get what you pay for. There are tiers of quality however so set a budget first then try to get the best quality item for that price.

OEM struts and a 40mm lowering kit - retains useful suspension travel, but gets the car a touch lower than standard.

Cheap coilovers, as already outlined are going to give you a selectable ride height but that's about it.

I'm making a blind guess here but I would say with even the most expensive suspension, the lower you go the decreased suspension travel you will get and a harder ride.

Could somebody tell me the difference between coilovers and shocks and springs? And would it be better to get cheep coilovers 200/300 pounds or middle of the range shocks and springs for the same price?

unless you intend going stupidly low, or intend changing ride height often there is no need for coilovers. cheap coilovers are very harsh on the roads. have a look at the price of coilovers from likes of eibach etc in comparison

a set of middle of the range shocks with a set of eibachs will be more than up to the job on a road car.

so in short. Buy Eibachs and shocks dont waste your money on cheap coilovers

Thanks gambit think this mite be the route I take, not to bothered about the car being ultra low as I still want it to be usable daily.
