Engine swap
« on: 21 September 2013, 16:27 »
Right this is a strange one... I've just been giving an engine out of an xr3i buy a friend that collects cars he has spent over 7k on the engine but never finished the car he was going to put it in.
Would it be possible to fit it to a mk3 golf I've been told that the engine was tuned for 380bhp+.

I no it's a sin to be putting a ford engine in a vw but its free so might aswell ask cheer any info would be much appreciated

What year XR3i?
You can make anything fit if you have time and money, easy route is to sell it on fast fords and fit a VW turbo unit

so not actually an xr3i engine but an rs turbo one. yeah I think it would be doable but a massive headache to. flog it on and buy something that's been tried and tested.

Anything is possible, I have seen the 1.8t lump in a few Escorts but it will be a lot of work and hassle.
