Depends, is it the black or the colour cartridge?
If it's black you might be alright, colour cartridges seem to vary a bit, the colours won't look the same as the proper ones.

I bought one for my old Epson from CartridgeWorld and it wasn't great. Ended up ditching that printer anyway as it was almost as cheap to buy a new printer than to buy more ink for it!

I recently bought a Tesco brand cartridge for my current HP printer and that died after just a couple of prints, but I've been having issues with this printer, so it might not be cartridge's fault.

Yes with kids and home work I can't afford £50 for stupid cannon products, but have to say if I'm printing photographs then I'll switch back to chroma life or whatever its called. The pictures just look washed out with generic ink can't tell on A4 paper but glossy paper it will show limitations.

Yeah - in my HP desk jet - bought them from Cartridge world.

The printer rejects them once your try refilling.  The printers these days are designed to reject most refills to protect the branded products profits.

I managed to get some good genuine ones at Staples.

It's worth googling a few suppliers first.
