I believe they do cover remaps but not if you go over a certain BHP increase.

I am unsure on the BHP side as I did an online quote and ticked the box for "chipped/engine management system" there wasn't a box to say how much of a power increase the car has got tho... when I buy the insurance end of the month when I phone up to confirm all details should know if there any difference in price.

When I was getting my quote with Admiral the online questionnaire gave multiple choices in percentage of powet increase, just like it also had different scales of suspension drop.

Been on the phone to admiral all afternoon getting insurance quote, they have given me 2 prices £612.30 for tinted rear windows, optional alloy wheels, cruise control, external decorative modification (vinyl roof). And a price of £650.62 to also include induction kit, exhaust system including manifold and a remap as long as the total BHP increase does not exceed 25% otherwise they wont cover.

Those prices are for a male, 22 years old, 3 years NCB, clean license, no crashes within last 3 years, with a Gloucester postcode being kept in a public access car park. However it is on a multicar policy so saved about £80.

I spoke to admiral about an hour ago and they said I can change my exhaust as long as it doesn't affect the power output. After reading your message I obviously wasn't impressed.... Then I phoned them back mentioning what 'a friend' had just been told and now I can add an exhaust and induction kit for 35 quid and if I want to get it mapped that's fine as long as it doesn't add over 25% power and helps fuel economy and that adds an extra 150 quid to my premium. Glad I joined this thread because I was going to admit defeat. And I'm also glad I've got a 180 because 25% increase means I'm limited to 225bhp which I'm unlikely to get with just them mods :)

Where do you take your 25% from tho, do you take the manufactures figures or do you get it on the dyno to know 100%. 25% isn't much tho just a remap and your pushing 25%

If you look at this page these guys had 235BHP from a stock 211BHP

To be honest I'm not looking to break the bank because I'm only going to keep this for a few years at most I would have thought, so I'm probably just going to get a decat downpipe, an induction kit and maybe get the remap, so I don't think that lot would push my hp sky high. I'm only going from what little knowledge I've got off here so far though so could easily be wrong.....
