My Golf Nightmare
« on: 19 September 2013, 22:39 »
Have had a few Golf GTI's last one being a mark 6 which i traded in for a mark 7 loaded up with goodies including BBS for a SE so we could let my daughter go on the insurance, Do I miss the performance of course , big time however I have grown to love the SE in it's white paint panoramic sunroof its a good looker. Also its great to drive I have the 122bhp which feels great. So in July my wife was on the M8 with monsoon rain falling from the sky. A young driver aged 19 years of age was speeding on the out side lane when most traffic was driving at 50mph because of the conditions. We aere all young an inexperienced at one time. The young driver aqua plained into my wife on the inside lane she did not see the car coming towards her it was just a loud BANG ! into the side of the car. The wife got the fright of her life and fortunately was not hurst but very shaken from the experience. The side door was smashed in and all the side air bags went off. Now our Golf has been of the road for 8 weeks waiting on parts. Inside door cover and seat covers along with head restraints which al have to be replaced. Every Monday we get a call telling us whats going on - waiting for parts.
As the young man is at fault we have a replacement top of the range Astra which only confirms how way out in front the Golf is big time. Anyway grateful we have a car to run about in but God do we both miss the magnificent new Golf it really is a tremendous cae can only imagine what the GTI is like. Praying we get our Golf back soon as we miss it so much :(

Really feel for you mate but the main thing is that no one was seriously injured. Cars can be replaced, loved ones can't.

I know what the M8 is like as I travel on it everyday and with the severe weather we can get up here it can be treacherous

Hope you get your Golf back soon and hopefully one day you will be back in a GTI

At least no one is hurt.  As Craig said, cars can be replaced, people can't!  Hope they sort it soon.

That M8 is a bugger. Remember a few years ago the snow fell and people got trapped on it for over 12 hours? I knew people in 6 different cars that were stuck on it somewhere

I'm really glad everyone was ok though. Hope you get your car back soon!
