Mine clocked over yesterday, and is now Build in Progress   

And now it's in transit....all within 5 days... 

Now saying 10 days....getting excited !!

My car has now ticked over to 'in transit', though it's still got the generic 'on average it takes 4 weeks' message, so I don't know if this is just an automatic tick over or if it has actually left the factory.

Mine went from 4 weeks, to 3 weeks then to 10 days. If you look on some of the other BW threads they have put a science to it. Having worked for alot of my working career for car manufacturers, I can certainly say there isn't a science as there are so many variables that go towards the manufacture and delivery of a car!!

Totally agree given each car is individually made to a certain spec. It'll turn up when it turns up!

Surely that's not on though? VW claim to make a car every 16 seconds or something, and they've been doing this for 50 years odd - they can't just be looking in the parts bins and then taking an order off the pile when they've got the stuff.

Stock pipeline management and manufacturing scheduling aren't anything new, it's not acceptable that this process is such a shambles with VW. That's not even getting on to their pathetic tracker.. >£25k purchase that takes 4.5 months to fulfill and they give you 7 stages and it only updates on Sundays?

I can buy a £5 item on Amazon and get full visibility of the order the whole way to my door.

I'm still looking forward to getting this GTI but based on this experience it's very unlikely I will consider getting a new car from VW again.

Well ive just called VW customer services and its finally being build step 5 of 8 in the building process. Im sure i saw someone on here post the build steps VW go through but I cant find it, anyone happen to know where thats posted?

My BW39 has been at 7 of 8 for the last 5 weeks!

I think it was 20 steps of build, not 8

i think is 20 for the whole process but 8 for the build its self

Vehicle left factory
Vehicle at port of exit not released
Vehicle at port of exit released
Vehicle shipped
Vehicle at port
Vehicle in transit to retailer
Vehicle at retailer
