Just had a reply from my dealer:

"I have just checked our system and your car's status is still with
production order (in the process of being built)

I have checked the VW bulletins and there is no mention of the week delay
you have seen on the forums."

While I'm still looking forward to getting this specific car there is literally not a single part of this process that would make me consider buying a new car from VW again.

Looking on the BW42 passenger supply document, it clearly states up to 25 weeks lead times on both the Golf GTi & GTD.
I would say, try a different dealership the next time

You're not wrong there. The only way I could have had less service is if I sat in his chair and submitted the order myself.

Don't let a bad experience with one dealership put you off.
I have been using my dealership since 2004, can't fault them at all.

That supply document clearly states that some golfs are a week behind. Think your dealer probably hasn't bothered looking :s

How do you find out what boat it's on?

FLINTYMUTT/GTI_JEFF, the EMDEN is now en route to Sheerness, ETA 18.00 today, fingers crossed both your cars are aboard. As for mine, I think it's still sitting in the parts bins

Nightmare mate..... Did you ever get confirmation of when exactly yours will be built??

It seems to have it actually built on time with no dramas is the exception rather than the norm..... Guess we should count ourselves very lucky flintymuff??

JEFF, I've spoken to vw cs again today and I'm now being told it will be built by the end of next week, no reason given for the delay, not sure id believe it any way, so I was right in saying it's still in the parts bins

just contacted my dealer and mine still hasn't been started. getting slightly pissed off now. gonna ring up vw cs later today. not much the dealer can do really
