When my Civic Type-R was resprayed for the edge of the door being buckled and scrapped similar to this scenario Honda told me they would only take the paint back halfway along the adjoining panels to the door panel they were to respray and remove the dent from.  I am surprised they have to do the whole side of the car.  I also don't remember the cost being as much as £700+. 

I would have it done properly and go to VW if at all possible.  Also if you have her details, you have to surely get the woman to pay for the damage.

believe it or not it's much more difficult to blend in white which is why they will have said the entire side needs doing.  also speaking from very recent experience

Ive phoned two PDR specialist tonight so I will keep you all posted on the outcome. The joys of a new car ownership...

I would get it done right first time. What if PDR doesn't work out to your satisfaction? The lass pays coppers for PDR settlement then you get shafted for £703 to put it right - you can't expect her to pay twice if it needs doing twice.

Don't forget a decent body shop will offer a smart repairs/PDR service at their premises. I found a nasty scuff mark on my bumper the other day down to bare plastic  Took it into a good body shop I've used in the past and they quoted £400 for a compete bumper respray or £80 for a smart repair. I went with the cheaper quote and they did a perfect job. I can't see the repair and estoril blue is a hard colour to match and blend in.

Sorry you have had such bad luck op. The first mark on a new car hurts the most.

I will only go for the PDR option if they thinks its possible. Its a tough position to be in thats for sure...

You could dent the opposite side door identically and then it will look OK

I had a local PDR guy look at the car this morning and what can I say you would never know the dent was there . Such a good job. A quick touch up with a paint pen at the weekend and the car will be as good as new.
