What a great little car @Watts. IMHO the Italians - and also the French - are very good at designing small cars and building character and style into them; so much nicer than many of the bland, soul-less cars you see on the roads today.

Here’s to a speedy recovery for your better half, and I hope she gets many years of pleasure and trouble free motoring from her new car.

Cheers SR, much appreciated.

Thanks Adam! I'm glad she didn't get the orange one. The bright colours are mostly great fun for the first few months then look a bit naff.

Three days with the car parked away, put it back on the drive about midday and just checked, bl@@dy rat has been back. More food secreted around the battery. Have peppermint oil arriving tonight, an ultrasonic/strobe light gadget to go under the bonnet with a movement sensor and a couple of rat traps.

And to add insult to injury, I've noticed a small dent on the bonnet too. No idea how that happened. No paint damage and very minor but still very annoying

Haha
£1800 12mth MOT. Gonna service it and see how it goes. Central locking broken, pass window doesn't work. 3 different keys. Gotta love banger!
Plenty of rust on the rear suspension arms etc, so I'll wire brush it off and get some Dynax on it. It'll do a job!

Had a similar issue over winter, I put a small tray of cotton wool soaked in peppermint oil and Vicks vapour rub under the bonnet coupled with two ultra sonic devices seems to have done the trick, also backed this up with some .22 sleeping tablets  good luck

I've booked mine into my local indie to look into a potential ABS/wheel speed sensor issue.

My dash lit up like a Christmas tree when I selected cruise control about a month ago. It self cleared but it happened again yesterday coming back from the Cotswolds.

Fingers crossed it's a cheap fix.

I got my car back today. It ended up needing a sensor and a new wheel bearing.

Good news, could have been a lot worse if abs unit. Neighbour had a similar fault and lots of fault codes on obd11. Clue to wheel sensor was it threw up a tpms fault code along with the others.
Mk6 GTI Carbon Grey, 2010 Bluetooth and voice fitted, a few VCDS mods still a comfortable family car. Red Scirocco 2011 twin charger stage 1 - enjoyable drive now gone.  White 2016 Polo GTI (roller skate on steroids) replaced with an Indium Grey 2019 7.5 GTI PP.

I gave my car a wash as it was needing it. We moved house recently so I haven’t been able to keep up with the washes.

I’m thinking about selling the car and going for something bigger as we’ll need it soon (and to be honest, the manual is starting to feel like a chore during the work commute) but I’m finding it hard to narrow down a replacement. Mk7.5 Golf R estate is an obvious choice but there’s none on the market near me and many seem to have high mileage. Has anyone here been in a similar position?

The wife has a 118i M Sport so we could look to trade that in as an alternative but she’s not sure what she wants to replace it with.
