I picked up the Mountune Stage 1 remap for my manual Mk7.5 GTI PP a couple of weeks ago during their sale and finally got some time to get the ECU flashed.

What’s the fugues for that software buddy?

You’re looking at about 300HP.

Another annoying rattle/noise, been bothering me on and off for months. Seemed to be coming from behind me on the passenger side. I thought it was the parcel shelf again so removed it, wasn't that. Went around thumping bits of trim and was getting nowhere. Then I noticed that one of the trims on the front passenger seat that goes around the headrest bar was loose, on the top of the seat. It wasn't clipped on properly so refitted it and found the same on the drivers seat. That was Friday. Six journeys and 150 miles later all is quiet. I can't believe such a small piece of plastic could make so much noise but it does seem fixed.

That sounds quite satisfying to resolve that rattle!

Are you keeping it now Watts?

If not, what next?

It was! I've had it nearly 5 years now and do fancy a change but what for is the tricky bit. I'd really like a small convertible but they just aren't practical enough, I can see the joy wearing thin very quickly. So at the moment I've no idea. OH is probably getting a new car this week so chances are if I do change it'll be next year.

It's not easy to move on.... My Ed40 may be my last sensible petrol car, I will still have other silly cars through!

If you fancy a convertible, classics are easy to own, if you buy right.... Pre 1984, no tax, Mot or Ulez..... Buy a cheapish convertible in the winter, sell it toward the end of the summer when you have had your fun?

Problem is I have space for just one car and it needs to be practical and fun. We do multiple 500+ mile trips a year. Reliable too, don't want to go back to the days of last minute panics with broken stuff! When we move I hope to have a bit more space then your excellent points will come into play.
