No, got a professional in to do it, Dave knows his limits.   Was built by proper carpenter and his mate, who turned out is massively into detailing, so we had a lots of chats whilst the carpenter did all the work, lol.  It was supposed to be a new garden shed to replace our old one, but when I saw it half built, I hatched an evil plan to have it for my own. 

I'll have to mention it to him next week

He thinks I'm a saddo having such a shed, but I don't care, lol.  Though he is glad it's freed up room in the house, me moving my car crap out of his office and the dining room.

Had my car serviced at Inchape Bolton today.
Impressed with the service and really liked the inspection video taken from underneath the car that I was sent.
The video showed very clearly that I had nail in my front drivers side tyre.
They asked me if I wanted them to repair it for £15 all in and I said to go ahead.
You guessed it, they scratched my Austin alloy
I could have taken it somewhere else to have the tyre repaired I suppose but they may very well have damaged the wheel as well.
I'm now waiting for the dealers response to the situation.
 

Bloody hell, just goes to show the more careful you are with your car the more it becomes a damage magnet.

It is getting increasingly difficult to find someone who can change a tyre without buggering up the wheels.  Feel for you kalimon, shouldn't happen but does.  It looks easily repairable though by the likes of Lepsons, Pristine Wheels etc, someone with the proper lathe for diamond cutting.  Hope it gets sorted to your satisfaction.

But it is a pain, and makes every trip to the dealer or a tyre fitter, a day of dread!  I found a really decent tyre fitter after previous bad experience, and all has been well for a couple years with them, but last time I had a tyre repaired last year, they damaged the barrel of my Pret, removing old wheel weights with a sharp instrument!  So even a formerly reliable outfit can change on a dime!  Only takes the introduction of one careless operative.

Walk in a VW dealer workshop and you'll see some pretty high end high tech equipment.
I saw a Golf having its wheels aligned a few years ago and the gear being used must've cost tens of thousands rather than the clamps and mirrors still used in a lot of budget tyre places. However, how well are the staff trained to use this gear?

Machine polished wheels are just so easy to damage, I'm surprised there aren't more specialised refurbishers out there. These type of wheels could almost do with a tough and fairly thick plastic type coating on them that can be polished if it gets surface damage.
There's no accounting for hitting kerbs etc, it just happens even to the most careful of people once in a while.
I saw a GTI the other day with park assist sensors fitted and all of the wheels were badly kerbed

You're absolutely correct Rebecca. Going into a garage or tyre fitters sends my normally non-existent stress levels through the roof!
I don't think that the protective rubber feet etc that come into contact with your wheels is inspected or cleaned anywhere near often enough. It doesn't take much to make a mess of a wheel.
Mine looks far worse in the picture than it actually is but as I said to the saleman, I came in with 4 perfect wheels and I'm leaving with a damaged one. It's not supposed to work like that.
As Exonian said in his post, why do they not fit a disposable plastic cover to every wheel before they start work on it?
I know he didn't say exactly that  but it's surely an idea, even if it added 50p to each tyre repair.

Very annoying, I now always take photos of the wheels before any work is done due to a few bad experiences.
A decent refurb will be £100 + and you may be without your car for a few days. Some companies will also take off too much when re cutting so the angled 'lip' around the edge is no longer there.

It may only be minor damage in their eyes but corrosion will set in next winter if its not sorted. Why can't they just be more careful

Maybe we need 'fragile - handle with care' stickers on our wheels.
