Now you just need a footrest plate to finish off the footwell

Does this fit a manual car or is it specific to the DSG?

It's actually closer in shape to the manual plastic footrest than the DSG one. The factory fitted footrest in DSG cars is a little bigger / wider than that in the manual.

It is indeed Joe.  This replacement one is so much more comfortable than the standard one even though it's slightly narrower. . I was very pleasantly surprised with it.  Simp,e but useful mini mod.

Cheers Chris! Got the premier grade mats here: http://www.carmats2u.co.uk/vw-golf-car-mats-mk7-2013-onwards-2486-p.asp

Thanks to Booth11 on here who originally recommended them. Very impressed so far, better than the standard ones in quality plus the two tone edging looks really smart. All in with delivery about £55 so I think that's decent value.

They look fantastic Watts.   Really go well with the seats.  Perfect match.  Yeah the quality is superb, makes the oem standard ones seem pathetic by comparison.

Btw, car looks amazing.

Cheers, these few little mods have made a real difference and make the car mine now. Only thing is, I don't want to drive it now in case the mats get dirty  Definitely need the paint looking at though, I keep finding issues here and there, nothing drastic and it does clean up well but they keep niggling me... Next jobette will be re-fitting the rear numberplate. I think the dealer must have Ray Charles on the team as the numberplate is badly wonky, the bumper protector that was on at the rear was fitted totally wrong so it has left a long line in the paint and the rear mats were in the wrong footwells!

The little ones do make a difference and put your own stamp on it.  And since you spend most of your time inside the car, it does matter.

Couldn't be doing with a wonky number plate.  Does sound like the visually challenged have been let loose on your car!

....... and the rear mats were in the wrong footwells!

Funny you should say that, thats been discussed on here a few times and quite a lot of folk had the same.
Me included with my GTD. In fact I must check Mrs P's GTI.
Strange thing is I never noticed for a few weeks then thought I had the wrong mats

A set of new Austin 18" were fitted yesterday, so today was wash clay, panel wipe and application of Gtechniq C5.

Let's hope they look that good for a while?

After a month of abject neglect, I finally washed and waxed it!  Decided to try my new pot of Swissvax Best of Show wax - what a divine smell!  Goes to the top of the list on that score.  Very pleased with the finish, really brings out the pearl flake beautifully.  I know it will be a short-lived wax with a lifespan of about a month but that's ok.  Will get a second coat at the weekend when the first coat has cured.

Todays efforts:

Moistened with pressure washer
Wheel pre wash spray - Bilberry Wheel Cleaner
Snow foamed twice - ValetPro Advanced Neutral
Wheels washed - Wheel Woolies and WoWo Wheel Mitt
Pressure wash
2 bucket wash - DoDo Juice Supernatural Shampoo, WoWo Lambswool Mitt - one for upper panel, one for lower panels
Pressure wash rinse
Open ended hose rinse
Dry with Vac n Blo and WoWo drying towels
Waxed - Swissvax Best of Show - applied with Auto Finesse sponge applicator and buffed off with WoWo Microfibre cloths
Glass cleaned with Gtechniq G6 Perfect Glass and WoWo Glass Cloth
Tailpipes cleaned and polished with Mothers Mag and Aluminium polish
Tyres dressed with Achem Hi Shine Long Life Tyre Dressing

Started off looking like this

Bit of snow foam action

All done and waxed with Swissvax Best of Show

Deep Black Pearl flake

Nice work there Booth; interesting that you power wash first, I was under the impression that snow foam worked best on a dry car, but looking at your results, I don't know why I'm raising the point  :undecided:

There's 2 schools of thought on that and it's debated now and then - riveting topic eh!   But I don't 'power wash' first, I just lightly wet the car briefly.  Works for me.
