Looong overdue new rear discs and pads. Only hiccup was apparently some non-PP GTIs had 300mm rear discs (mine included) - from a relatively thorough Google most places say non PP is 272mm rears which is what I had bought. Maybe it's a mk7.5 change?

Was the inner pad actually touching the disc?
Now = 2011 MK6 GTI - Reflex Silver
Past = 2006 MK5 GTI - Tornado Red and Solid Black

Removed the arch liners from the front, cleaned dried and sprayed with Bilt Hamber Dynax UC. Nothing worthy to note other than dirt build up where the foam block was located.

Foam blocks removed to prevent rust,  they both had dirt and grit on the ends  (the part that sits against the wing) so will likely cause rust long term.

Gave my exhaust tips a thorough clean. Washed, tar remover then polished with Mothers. Nowt special compared with what most of you on here do but to bear in mind, as far as I'm aware, this was the first time they have ever been cleaned. And they looked like 5 years and near 50k of miles mucky. Now, beautifully shiny. Unfortunately the rest of the car is minging.

They sit about half way along the arch, kind of in line with the spring. Once the arch liners are removed it's a big area with nothing in it and a lot of metal that might resonate? I think the foam block might just be a baffle to mitigate some noise in the upper portion of the wing from road/tyres, but not sure.  I couldn't detect a difference after removing them. But I've kept them just in case anyone says they are vital for some reason.

Thanks for reply . I’m doing my arches at the moment . A big chore but glad I’ve started it. I’m just waiting for the dynax uc to dry
