Got in the car today and noticed this. It's not been hit so can only assume it was heat?

It looks like a small crack - feels smooth though so must be very fine.

I assume if I want to fix this it would be the whole climate control module rather than a trim?

Ah thanks. Looks like they suspect heat as the culprit as well.

Looks like a few on ebay for £30 or so, not the end of the world if it gets on my nerves too much!

^^pretty nasty

Did it have the right fuse? I assumed the fuse would pop way before it got to that stage.

Might go and check fuse at some point.

Yep, 30A replaced it with a Circuit breaker type now and running the fan on full and keeping an eye on it before I put the Glove box back in. I only assume it was a bad connection causing it to arc or heat up with the resistance.

Having decided to keep my car for the foreseeable, I have “freshened it up” with a nice Royal steering wheel and today collected the car from Spotless Detailing after an external detailing package finished with GTechnic coating.

I would never have imagined doing this stuff to any car up until now, but there you are.

Hmmmm, what next? Ah yes, a new front plate to freshen up 100%.

I am still amazed after 5 years how many strangers will gaze at the car or randomly compliment it in car parks. None of this has anything to do with the appearance of the owner, I assure you.

My wife can confirm all of the above.

Mine gets a fair amount of looks and comments too. Had it four years now and at a similar point in ownership, considering a change or make a few investments in it. Not sure yet. I retire in a few weeks and do fancy a change but just not sure what to go for, everything I look at is impractical and a stupid idea in comparison. Decions decisions...

Fot those with ceramic coating I can recommend "Gyeon Wet Coat" to keep the ceramic protection fresh. It has been working on my ceramic coat for over 5 years and I still get 100% water beading.

It is easy to apply as well, spray on rinse off and works on your glass if you have ceramic coat on that as well.

Taking advantage of the warm weather I removed and cleaned up my steering wheel, making the Alcantara all lovely again.
I also replaced the trim as mine had started peeling.
The warm helped it dry and also makes the removal of the trim easier.

Damage

Before

After

All lovely and like new again.

There is a celebrity that rides around in a Clubsport on TV and their steering wheel is shocking, dirt and wear has made the red stripe almost black and the Alcantara almost like vinyl.

Top tip, if you spray it onto a fresh damp wash mitt then rub it across the paint it Wet Coat lasts longer

Similar thing, I actually spray it on then spread it around with my flat hand before rinsing it of.
