golf mk4 1.8 turbo gti on 2000 reg

my golf mk4 1.8 turbo had the chain tentioner problem then i fixed it but the oil pump had gone so i changed that but the second hand one i got siezed after only a couple of minutes i have bought a brand new one but not putting it on till i find out what is wrong i have put new 5w40 oil in as directed by my local car parts shop and that was from vw book on that year golf has any one else had this problem can someone help me thanks

Well fitting a s/h oil pump seems daft but as posted check the oil pick up pipe.
