Don't do it! George k had to modify a standard set for a GTI/GTD customer - I presume he had to trim a bit to accomodate the sill lip that the GTI/GTD has that other Golfs don't have.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

iainmac - I'm with you, I want a set on when I get my GTD (confirmed BW40) - if VW have not sorted them by that stage I too will be asking for a modification so the car leaves the showroom with a set on!

I asked the same question and the dealer told me the GTI/GTD specific flaps are due first quarter of next year. Bit of a shame would have liked to have had them on for winter.

Why do VW take so long to release these after the launch of the car?

Pretty sure I've seen the part numbers for the GTI/GTD specific ones in ETKA when I was browsing the other day. I'll check tonight (my laptops' at home).

Wouldn't mind a front set myself, as the fronts I have on the current Scirocco, certainly do help in keeping a lot of muck off the side of the car. I think so long as you remove them periodically (say every 6 months) and clean behind and seal the paintwork, you should be fine. Took them off the Rocco on Wednesday (in preparation of it going on Saturday), and after a little polish, the paintwork behind them looks as good as new - and they have been on for 2½ years.

I’ve never had any bother with muck up the side of my Scirocco without mudflaps to be honest, and no stone chips either.

The car is so low, there’s not much scope to be flicking stones up to cars in your path – the mudflaps specifically for VW variants which come lowered as standard (like the Scirocco and GTI/GTD) are barely 1.5” lower than the rest of the car. I’ll not be bothering for the negligible protection they’ll be providing. Have you seen the price of these lately? Got a full set of 4 for £52 for my MK5 Golf, and the standard MK7s (with GTI/GTD ones likely to be more again) are £74 a pair!

The paintwork up the side of my Scirocco without them was like new 2.5 years and 23k miles on.

That's right I had to trim around sill trim but it also meant cutting all the way through so when looked at from wheel side you could see end of trim giving possibility that dirt could still get through to body as could not get perfect body shape.
